Factorin
Product job
Factorin is an open distributed platform with ready-to-implement tools
for automating relationships between buyers, suppliers, banks and other companies. Factorin ensures the exchange of data and legal docs between the participants' accounts, providing a high level of security and confidentiality.
Description
I was the only designer in the project. I was working on the support of the platform's functionality. The project consists of an external part — a website. And an internal part — personal accounts of suppliers, buyers and banks. Each role had its own functionality, which consisted
of an application for factoring, confirmation of deliveries, discounting and other banking services.
Design System
From the very beginning of the project, there was created a simple UI-Kit with basic components. When I came to the project, we started creating a full-fledged design system which provides access to every employee of the company. Thanks to our teamwork, we managed to create a design system consisting of 150+ full-fledged universal components that we can use for different products of the company. During my work, most part of the internal platform was redesigned using new components. As a result, we managed to reduce the development time of new screens by almost 50%.
Online application for factoring
The online application allows suppliers and buyers to send requests for factoring to 40 banks at the same time. This is a simple tool with which you can choose the best offer and sign a factoring contract. My task was to improve the user experience, reduce the application time and implement newfunctionality. Together with product managers, analysts and developers we achieved the necessary result:
The application submission time decreased by24%, the number of unprocessed applications decreased by 41%, and the number
of applications increased by 14%.
Processing the request redesign
After the supplier or buyer has sent the application, the bank starts working in its personal account. The side of the bank looks at the requested data and forms its offer, which is sent to the supplier or buyer.
Based on the offer, the sides decide to sign a factoring contract with the specified conditions. I had an opportunity to communicate with several representatives of banks during the design creation and found out their needs that could be implemented in the interface. We have received important data from suppliers and buyers about their work structure. Thus, we have improved the processes so that the supplier and buyer can see all the necessary information about the application and can quickly make a decision about signing the contract.
As part of the task, most of the components in the application were redesigned all existing texts were rewritten and the attachment of files to the application was changed.
Chat experience
We have implemented our own chat for communication between suppliers, buyers and banks on the platform. There were a lot of problems that prevented the correct work with applications in the first version. We conducted a study on our users and found out the problems they face when communicating with each other.
Supplier and Buyer
The list of dialogs shows not the bank, but the application number. It is hard to navigate by the application numbers
No empty states for dialog boxes
A non-obvious message sending button
A small area for the message text
Bank
No empty states for dialog boxes
The name of the supplier and buyer is not shown
in the list of dialogs
Information about the application is not shown
in the messages
The inability to send documents
After identifying the problems, it was decided to redesign the chat to improve the user experience. We redesigned the entire chat and took into account the new requirements. We have developed components for creating a technical support chat.
Simplified verification
In order to receive funds under the factoring agreement, the supplier or buyer must confirm the delivery. That's what the functionality
on our platform is for. The task was to make the existing process as convenient as possible for the user. It was necessary to develop a simple logic of the process so that even an ordinary user could understand it without technical support, since the product is specific.
As part of the task, we created new components of drop-down lists, calendar, search, filters and the tables.
Online application on the website
For the convenience of submitting an online application, it was suggested to implement it on the product landing page. The main idea was that the user doesn't need to register but can immediately go to the search for the best offers for factoring.
As part of the task, components were updated, text messages were edited and adaptive screens for tablets and mobile devices were made. Completing the task helped to simplify the CJM and increased the number of requests.
Finally
During my time working on the product, I managed to level up my skills in building tables, research and in an area that is unusual for me. Thanks to teamwork, we managed to bring several projects in the product to a common style and, most importantly, we created a base
for scaling the product in the future.
